I remember when I first heard about HDTV is was something that was happening in Japan not the US. Japan had HDTV a long time ago, but it was or is analog HDTV. That was 1990 if I remember correctly, don’t quote me on that. I remember I was in high school around that time. It was a big deal because people thought that HDTV was right around the corner for the US.
Who knew that nearly 20 years later, HDTV still isn’t common in every home. The first flat panel LCD and plasmas hit the stores around 1997-1998, I remember that because I worked for an electronics chain back then called ‘the good guys!’ they are out of business.
It was a big deal because nobody knew what the heck ‘plasma’ meant. It was a 40-42 inch screen. The price was 19,999.00 That’s right, 20 large.
It has not made my life any easier.
It has made my life more entertaining and I enjoy watching movies more than ever because the picture doesn’t have all the issues that analog TV, and large projection screen TVs had, not distracting, so you can just enjoy the movie without a gigantic coffin looking thing in your living room.
